So what is this travel business? 

At its core this business is based on the fact that all* aspects of travel come with a built in commission. Depending on who you book travel with determines who earns that commission. 

For example if you book with a high street travel agent they will earn that commission, if you book with an online platform they earn the commission and if you book with an independent travel advisor they will earn that commission.

**note: flights are an exception to this, airlines have almost eradicated commission from air travel.*
