Why I chose a direct sales business and closed my 20 year paralegal practice

Hello!!!!  After 20 years operating my own paralegal practice, I closed the doors and went into a field of network marketing. So why would I leave a thriving 20-year paralegal practice?  I get this question a lot!!!!  I was a 28-year-old entrepreneur when I opened my paralegal practice. Some people would not hire me because I was too young. I assisted people in landlord-tenant disputes and in Small Claims Court and I enjoyed helping people. However, it was highly stressful and I had no free time. I was in the office from 9 to 5 or in court and when I was home I was often working on files during my evenings and weekends when most are out enjoying life.  My twin brother had a massive heart attack at the age of 42 and I realized that I need to make some changes both for my own health issues and have some time for me. As I aged I also knew I would not be able to keep up with the crazy work schedule. After all those years of helping peolpe with their legal issues, I still had no real significant savings for my retirement as most extra funds were spent on advertising and other business expenses. Statistically speaking it takes three to five years to build a successful traditional brick and mortar type small business and most fail. They also take a significant amount of financial investment. You have to register the business name, pay for business cards, office space rental, letterhead, computer software, computers, desks, office supplies, advertising, and licences membership dues.

After twenty years,  I needed to do something for my retirement to have the lifestyle I wanted and I knew continuing the way I was going would not help me reach those goals. I am now meeting people, have time for family as well as building a home-based business. I had no idea what I was going to do but I knew I had to close. Shortly after closing, I was introduced to a company that would only cost me 19 to join and I would have to shop with them every month. But it was not new money because I was buying this stuff anyway. They also promoted healthy products and all were environmentally friendly. Since I always had a passion for the environment and would still be helping people with their health goals, I felt it would be a great fit for me. I am now meeting people I would never have had the time for before and taking some much needed me time to deal with my own health goals, spend time with family and build friendships, all while building a home-based business that only cost me $ 19 a year to join. I do not buy an inventory, I do not sell anything and the company sends me a residual cheque every month with a business report. It might take a few years to build as it is still a business. It is not a get rich quick scheme but the money potential is higher than any money i could get in the traditional Legal practice I was doing.
