Poverty vs. Wealth

You can have money and still be in poverty.  Emotional poverty can be as real as financial poverty.  It is certainly not good to be in both, but the fact is that wealth is more than just financial wealth.

i have never had to live on the street.  I have worked on the road and found myself in a financial scrape and had to sleep in my truck.  A gym membership was already paid for so I took a shower at the gym (multiple locations) and then slept in my truck to avoid paying for a motel room.

I was working though.  I just had to manage my money differently.  I eventually recovered and got back into a motel room.  I was working as a contractor and when the next better paying job came around, I went there and finally got back on my feet financially.

I tell you all this to tell you that I have a compassion for those who are struggling.  I help them when I can.  I am a believer in the fact that to whom much is given much is required.  There are different levels of that, as far as who has how much and how much any given individual can give.

You can have money in the bank but be in emotional poverty relationship wise.  You can also have very little in the bank but have strong family relationships and a grateful attitude and be emotionally wealthy.

Wealth is so much more than just money.  We work hard to achieve a level of financial wealth.  i do believe we should strive for that, actually.  We also want to achieve a level of relationship wealth.  

Kids spell love using different letters, called "time".  I actually got that from Zig Ziglar, but he was absolutely correct.  I say that knowing that I have spent enough time on the road and working that I know what it is to not get as much time with kids as I would like.

I now have the option at least of having weekends with my son.  I work 4 days per week and come home for the weekends as a routine.  

I talk to him every day and we work out together as often as possible.  He is 16 now, so he comes and goes as he pleases, but we spend as much time together as possible.  He knows he can come to me at anytime.  We have a solid relationship.

So, I understand poverty vs. wealth, money vs. relationships, and the need to find a way to establish some kind of leverage in our lives so that we don't always trade time for money.  

We either leverage a system or we leverage other people's efforts or both.  The need to do both is the fact that a system won't usually quit on us unless it is shutdown for some reason.  People will quit so we have to allow for that.

Being grateful for what we have is the foundation for being emotionally wealthy.  Relationships are the most important things in our lives.  Our relationship with God, ourselves, and our family.  

We can always create financial wealth as we learn to establish leverage into our lives.  We can increase our skills and work on our mindset and learn to leverage a system to begin with.

I have also learned that it is best to leave our job income alone and either do writing jobs or sell on ebay or something similar in order to have money to invest in ads to promote any given program.

I used to believe that our extra money from our job income was the investment money we needed.  I have since changed my mind.  We should never invest any money we can't afford to lose and we really can't afford to lose extra income from over time we work on the job.  

That money needs to stay in the bank.  We need to find other ways to generate a side income and use that income as a stepping stone to invest into ads or other business ventures.  

Our job income needs to stay in the bank to pay bills.  Extra money from our jobs might be needed so we need to leave it there.

Sell on ebay, provide writing services or get creative in other ways to generate enough side income to invest into our programs that we want to use for leverage.  It takes time to make anything grow.
