It works in reverse, too. The people in your life have a big impact on you as you journey toward your dreams. Will they help you on your journey, or drag you down? Today I am sharing three personality types who can impede your growth and stand in the way of your dreams.

The Debbie Downer

No surprise here. The negative, pessimistic personality type can be incredibly exhausting. A pessimistic person in your inner circle, whether that's a close business associate or immediate family member, can poison your confidence. 

Negativity can be a motivational drain that depletes your energy and weakens your resolve. Distance yourself from these personality types if possible, or at least keep your interactions limited to something other than your big plans. 

The Needy Ned

Achieving your dreams takes a lot of time and energy. If you're ever going to truly catch those dreams, you will need to dedicate specific time on working towards them. You can't be wasting it.

Surround yourself with people who make your life better, not those who need everything from you. If you have a particularly helpless or needy person- like and employee or even a spouse or child- you can work on finding ways to develop their independence and setting boundaries.

The Jealous Jill

Jealousy manifests in many different ways, so this is the most complicated personality type to identify and avoid, but it can be incredibly toxic. A jealous personality type might draw close to you, striving to get some of your success or confidence. They may take credit for your triumphs, riding coattails.

Or a jealous personality type may try to actively sabotage you and stand in the way of your success. They may speak negatively about you to others, spread rumors of things to take away from your positive growth. It's important that you Identify those who do not truly want you to succeed and carefully remove them from your life or set clear boundaries to keep them from harming your chances of achieving your dreams. 

Think of the people around you as mental and emotional nourishment for your heart and mind. Are those people providing nutrition and sustenance that gives you strength? Or are they junk food that hurts you in the long run???

Surround yourself with healthy personalities, steer clear of these toxic personalities, and you'll find yourself with dreams in reach...
