We all know the comments people make, “This is just a Ponzi scheme” or “its just a direct marketing pyramid scheme”. Some people claim that only 10% of the distributors ever make money. Others say price fixing and pushing the distributor to sell the “distributorship” and not focusing on the product is unethical. So the question remains, “Is Multi Level Network Marketing a legitimate way to make money?”. Or is it just as they say, the uplines manipulate the downlines into the above practices.

I was introduced to Lifevantage by a friend of mine from the US, who is a Lifevantage Distributor. I said all those things above and more. However, I was fortunate because I was first introduced to the Lifevantage product before I was introduced to the business model. I can not become a distributor of Lifevantage here in India but I learned that Lifevantage was in the Philippines so I would like to give people an introduction to Lifevantage and the chance to understand concepts such as Oxidative Stress and nrf2 synergy.

The flagship product of Lifevantage is Protandim. Let’s look at the science behind this awesome product. Cellular degeneration through everyday activities such as; eating, sleeping, breathing, getting injured, colds, flus, pollution and exercise, to name just a few, happens to all of us. This is called Oxidative Stress. Many people have not heard of this term. I had not either. I went to Wikipedia and learned what this was all about. Its for real. Oxidative stress results in the production of what is called free radicals. For some quick Chemistry, a free radical is an atom or molecule with unpaired electrons causing it to become very reactive.

The cellular degeneration happens when the free radical encounters another molecule and reacts with it seeking to find another electron to pair its unpaired electron. The free radical often pulls an electron off a neighboring molecule, causing the affected molecule to become a free radical itself. The new free radical can then pull an electron off the next molecule, and a chain reaction of radical production occurs.

As our free radicals build through daily activity, there comes a point where our natural physiology can not neutralize all the free radicals. The natural way that these free radicals are “neutralized” is through anti-oxidants. In a summary, these antioxidants carry an extra positive charge which then binds to the free radical. However we do not create enough antioxidants necessary to neutralize all the free radicals.

Nrf2 is a protein (that is made by our body to a certain extent) that regulates the expression of antioxidant proteins that protect against oxidative damage. Several companies are in the process of creating drugs that stimulate the Nrf2 pathway are being studied for treatment of diseases that are caused by oxidative stress,. It seems that one of our main goals is to have a way to generate enough (what our bodies don’t produce) Nrf2 to neutralize all free radicals.

Now Lifevantage’s flagship product , Protandim, is called an Nrf2 synergizer. It consists of natural plant ingredients.
