ARE YOU TOAST?

Have you ever really thought about what success means to you? I get it that people want the finer things in life. Things that most of us want such as more money, a new car, a new home in a nice neighborhood, the ability to take at least one really cool vacation per year and no job to stress you out. Isn’t that the reason many network marketers became network marketers?

Just about every network marketer I have ever spoken with expressed the desire to do the things I just laid out. It is what’s on display at every convention I ever attended. One success story after another enthusiastically shared on that stage. As you sit listening to these success stories you envision yourself on that stage sharing your rags to riches story too. WOW!

It begs the question, what the heck do they have that I don’t? I think it starts with how you define success. This may sound like a cliché, but where there is smoke there is the strong possibility that there is fire. In other words, it’s how you think that makes all the difference. (I bet you’ve heard this before too.)

We hear it all the time, yet many ignore this simple but powerful principle. Success should mean that you are striving to be better tomorrow than you are today. Sounds theoretical. You want to know the HOW. So did I. It irked me when I listened to many gurus talk the theoretical and very little about the HOW. I wanted to yell out. “Enough with the B.S. All I want is your step-by-step secrets to your massive success. I’d be happy if I can achieve a fraction of what you achieved.”

Here’s what I’ve learned. When you start changing your habits magical things start to happen. The problem is that many live in a fast-food mentality world. We want the pain to go away NOW. The pain I’m referring to is the pain of lack. The lack of the finer things I laid out before. That pain didn’t happen overnight and it may take just as long to relieve. The fastest way I know to relieve the pain is by doing what the successful do.

“Books are what you step on to take you to a higher shelf.” – Jim Rohn

The challenge is that most people don’t like or want to read a book. Jim Rohn says, “You’ve got to change that.” Lucky for you we no longer live in a world of just books. We have the Internet.

Every journey begins with a single step. If you’re not willing to take that step you are toast. That step used to be the first book you read. Today, all you have to do is watch a simple HOW-to video.
