YOU MUST BE MISTAKEN

Remember the days when you were back in school? At least for me, a baby-boomer, it seems like a long time ago. In school, the person whose test has the least mistakes makes the best grade. How about sports? The team that makes the least mistakes usually wins. At work, we learn that the fastest way to do a job is to do it right the first time. It seems this does not apply in the environment of a network marketer. We cringe at the thought of making mistakes.

Everybody knows that mistakes and setbacks carry the seeds of future successes if you are smart enough to look for and learn from them. Trial-and-error learning is a major key to any business success. Those who never make mistakes usually end up working for those who aren’t afraid to make them. Just think of Thomas Edison. The candle would be our source of light if Edison quit when he experienced his first mistake or setback. Edison made close to or over 10,000 mistakes before perfecting the light bulb. We should be doing the same in our network marketing business. We should learn from our mistakes and keep forging ahead. In other words, we should focus on trying new ideas instead of avoiding mistakes.

The big money and huge downlines will not come overnight. Success is the result of making good decisions on a daily basis. An example of a good decision is finding someone who has done what you want to do or a Mentor. This person does not have to be in your company.

How do you know you found a good mentor? Good decisions come from good judgment. So what is good judgment? It’s the ability to come to sensible conclusions. In other words, it really is about common sense. Bingo!

I learned that good judgment comes from experience. Trying different things over and over again until you get better. It’s the process of sharpening your mental axe. Hence, you become experienced.

Are you ready for the big twist? Hang on! Here it comes! Experience comes from bad judgment. Hey you made a mistake and you will make more than one. All you have to do is start over again until you get it right.

Every successful person in sports, business and life had a coach. Why would you try and figure this out on your own? Chances are the person who recruited you is a family member, friend or co-worker. They probably know less about building their business than you do. Maybe they already quit. What a mistake!
