CBD- A PAIN RELIEVER
CBD, which is the second cannabinoid in pot after THC, can be helpful for reducing neuropathic pain. It is a marijuana compound, but scientists found that CBD does not create any psychoactive effects on brain. Using lab mice as an experiment to explore the effects, CBD is found to prevent neuropathic pain that can be created by chemotherapy drug paclitaxel, which has the brand name- Taxol. Mice given that drug and CBD were less sensitive to pain than mice that only receive chemo.
CBD also has anti-inflammatory properties. “From what we’ve seen so far, it’s almost a complete prevention of the onset of neuropathic pain”, told by Temple university school of pharmacy.
Acetone is applied to mouse paws, which creates a cold sensation when the liquid dries up. The scientists also poked the little mouse paws with stretchy filaments to experiment how much pressure they had to apply before the mice hauled their paws away. Chemo mice dosed with CBD had almost the normal sensitivity. CBD’s ability to prevent nausea is not tested yet. Preventing nausa is also a normal use for medical cannabis. CBD has also shown high assurance to restrain the growth of cancer cells in animals. Another bright side of CBD is, when it is combined with THC, it produces a relaxing effect in brain that can battle any feelings of paranoia or panic.
The interesting thing is, scientists are yet not sure how exactly CBD operates in the body. This fact of course does not stop them from testing it as a medication for conditions varying from Crohn’s disease to Schizophrenia. Uninhibited research into the hugely promising future applications of CBD can only be done when marijuana and all its imitative are removed from Schedule I of the Uniform Controlled Substances Act. By definition, Schedule I drugs are pointless for any medical purpose, and too unpredictable to even test on human subjects under laboratory authorities,
