Feed Your Head And Swell Your Vault

If your head ain't right, nothing else will be.

Lots of people call this your mindset. Because I hate cliches (or worse, sounding like everybody else) I prefer the older term, paradigm.

Your paradigm is simply the set of values, beliefs and concepts you carry around in your head that puts a spin on everything you see, hear or feel. Unless you think about it, you may never be conscious that you're coloring the world the way you wish to see it, and sometimes missing what's really there.

Frame is another way to refer to your paradigm. Imagine you're carrying a window frame. Every time you look through it, you only see what your frame allows you to see. While almost everybody walks around thinking that they can see what's real, the truth is that your reality can differ greatly from your friend's view.

Here comes the really interesting part...

You can change your frame.

By constantly absorbing new ideas and different points of view, you can expand your frame and see things from many different angles. This can give you an enormous advantage over other marketers. 

When you're able to see things from your prospect's point of view, all sorts of opportunities develop. You'll be able to communicate much more effectively, because you'll find it much easier to develop rapport.

But what if you're narrow-minded or have a limited frame?

You can expand it. Here's how...

You expand your frame of reference by reading and listening to information about different subjects. Much of the time, you'll want to focus on methods of increasing your business skills. Skills like listbuilding, building simple funnels and effective email followup.

The rest of the time you can read or listen to self-development material. I listen to books all the time while I'm driving. You can get all the audiobooks you'll ever want at Audible.com. I have a subion there, and I love it.

Another fantastic place to find stuff to listen to is podcasts. I'm subscribed to about a dozen of them, and I always keep my eye out for more. 

But don't forget Amazon, your local bookstore or even the library for books to read. I checked out a book from the library just the other day. Believe it or not, I had forgotten about libraries. 

Here's the thing... we become what we think about. 

If you're constantly feeding your mind with good information, you can't help but to develop a bigger and more interesting frame. You'll see the world in a whole new light, and all sorts of possibilities will present themselves to you.

Remember... your business will never grow bigger than you are. Keep reading and listening every day. That's how you learn and grow.
