Benefits of fueling your body with FAT
Right! Fat for fuel? Yes that is correct ...Our bodies can actually run more efficiently by eliminating the refined carbohydrates and simple sugars that we eat in most of our food products every day!
By removing some of these over processed foods and fuel we can then increase our intake of healthy fats. There is a stigma around eating fat, most people think we have to maintain a low fat diet and yes this is true IF you are up taking larger numbers of carbohydrates and sugars, which our bodies use for fuel. BUT...Glucose is a fast fuel it burns and gives us bursts of energy but it is not sustainable and we end up with "sugar crash" or "food coma" feeling.
When we make the shift and remove these things or at least limit them from our diets we are then putting our bodies into a different state a state of KETOSIS where we can run longer and more efficiently with increased energy and no burn out feeling. Utilizing fats as our main fuel source can help actually burn fat!
This is not a new topic or science this way of eating has been around for hundreds of years. Many variations of this diet are out there for so many reason not just weightloss ( but that is one reason i decided to try it!) but is used for the treatment of certain diseases and disorders.
Hunters and gatherers practiced being in this state without even knowing it! Being able to do long trips with the elements working against then but could maintain enough energy to withstand the weather, the fatigue and the powers against them trying to bring in food for families. How was this done? Eating small amounts of higher calorie high fat foods as well as FASTING ( Next Article!)
I encourage everyone i speak with to do as much research on this topic as possible and learn the benefits of putting our bodies in this state as many individuals have not heard this buzzing conversation yet! Everyone has a different need for this way of life, maybe you need to lose a few pounds, maybe you have a seizure disorder and your doctor has mentioned a specialized ketogenic diet to you to try or maybe you just want to have more fuel uptake to your brain to keep you energized and clear! Whatever your reason is why not do some research and give it a try!
