WHAT IS BITCOIN:

 Bitcoin can be used like a currency, but don't physically exist like dollar bills. They are an online currency which can be used to buy things. Bitcoin is used to complete transactions - just like any currency. Even though they are virtual, rather than physical, they are used like cash when transferred between people through the web. The dollars on our financial institution statement, viewed online, are considered real money, even though those are just digital dollars. The fact that Bitcoins aren't available in physical form is not really a downside, any more than the numbers on your financial statement are not available as physical currency either. Just like we use credit cards or debit cards to transfer value, Bitcoins can be spent in many locations, just like dollars. What makes Bitcoins unique, versus other currencies, is that there is no financial system, like the U.S. Federal Reserve (scam), managing their existence and value. Instead Bitcoins are managed via blockchain technology which is going to change the entire world as we know it just like the internet did.  

   HOW TO BUY BITCOIN:

A Bitcoin Exchange is where you Buy or Sell bitcoin to or from your bank or credit card (they also have internal wallets, but you don’t technically own the bitcoin stored in these wallets because THEY own the private keys to YOUR bitcoin. So you only want to use these exchanges to buy and sell bitcoin, never to hold your Bitcoin here for long periods of time. Exchanges have been known to go out of business or go bankrupt and everyone's bitcoin is lost if that happens... So Exchanges are only for temporary short term buying or selling of bitcoin only. Once you buy Bitcoin from an exchange... move your Bitcoin into a more secure wallet (see below) where YOU own the private keys so your Bitcoin can never be lost or stolen. A wallet is where you receive, hold, or keep your bitcoin (you own your private keys and bitcoin in a wallet so no one can ever take it from you.

You can find people selling Bitcoin in your local community using LocalBitcoins.com.  This website lets you search and browse through various sellers of Bitcoin in your area. Sellers have reviews and feedback scores to help you choose. It's very fast, fees can be decent but sometimes higher. But the convenience of not having to verify accounts or wait weeks to fund makes it worth it! Also any country can do it, all you need is a wallet.

GET YOUR WALLET:

The Bitpay Wallet is very easy to use and you own your private keys & control your Bitcoin! If you are out on the town and see someone accepts bitcoin for payment, you can just pull out your phone scan the QR code and pay. I also like it because it makes it easy for you to load your Bitpay debit card for spending your bitcoin at places that don't accept bitcoin directly. We recommend keeping less than 1 BTC in this wallet for ease of use and the rest in a hard wallet... see below. Until you have more than 1 Bitcoin getting a hard wallet is not necessary unless you want the extra security. Ledger Nano S is a Hard wallet - USB - (long term storing of bitcoin, and works for everyday transactions while you are at your computer. A hard wallet is the most secure way to store your bitcoin. So once you start accumulating quite a bit of bitcoin you might consider getting one of these to store it.
