Build your business like a squirrel prepares for winter

Too many people when they start a business up and start getting some money spend it on themselves rather than their business. Here is a good formula to use 50 % to the business for expenses, 10% to you and the remaining 40% put aside for slow months. 

If you were like a squirrel though you would harvest all summer eat all winter. In other words you would bring in 6 months of income before you spent any but we know there are costs to operating a business which are all tax deductible.

If we look at our business like the seasons of the year, there are four. Now let's put them into phases of our business.  SPRING is the beginning where you learn all you can about the company you are with and where you get your start in promoting whether through family and friends or advertising. Then there is SUMMER where you start to see the fruits of your labor pay off, a little this month and then a little more next month but you cannot back off the advertising or getting the word out and making connections with people. Then comes FALL where you can see you income grow ‘n grow ‘n grow but you do not back off what you have that got you to here as you know WINTER is coming and that is the day you are preparing for when you can coast and work quite so hard but still keep the momentum going.

We all look for the winter of our business but forget to prepare hard enough. For some reason too many figure winter is the first season and they don’t do what they don’t put in play that which is necessary to get them to that point. Every business needs work and there are many ways to maximize your strongest asset and that is advertising. Facebook, Google+, Linkedin, Twitter, but the best is giving someone something of value to introduce your business to them.
