So Excited to be Starting My New Business !

Hello All,  

I am Lexie Shaw. I am very excited to be starting my new business. It seemed for so long that I was not brave enough to try this on my own, but now I believe I have found my place in this new online world. Working for me has always been for someone else. Making a business work and produce profit for someone else has not fulfilled any dream I never knew I had. There was never a job, and I have had plenty, that I really couldn't do fairly well. There was only one I really did not like, but that happens to us all. Nothing ever sparked a want or desire in me to go out on my own and make it really work for me and mine. It's not like I didn't try, but somehow there was no spark, no real desire to get to work and stay with it. Except that I did make one work, at least for a while. At my age, I am 71, I would have expected to find something that 'lit' my fire! Lots of things did that for me: falling in love, getting married, having kids, coming out the other end of the  ‘d-i-v-o-r-c-e’ tunnel and be in one piece and able to move on with life. In this current phase of my life, which has lasted over thirty-four years, I have been happy, mostly content, and very much in love with my wonderful husband. We each came into this journey with baggage, and two sons each. Often we have discussed what a normal life might be, and decided we would probably never know. Both of us have faced physical issues, due to age and outside influences. Retirement came sooner than we expected and we were not as prepared as we should have been. Our sons have helped us so much, but we don't feel we can allow that to continue. The husband is still working three days a week, but it is not easy for him. I have not worked in over 4 years, since the accident; it was a serious fall. At that time I was sort of 'working from home', but much of the job was going out to specific locations. I really loved making my own schedule, and it was fairly lucrative, but it has been a long 4 years. Because I was not comfortable going to a 'standard 5-day a week job', we thought we might be able to make it without my working again. Well, prices went up, and things happened, and now I am ready again to pull my weight and take some of the pressure off him. 

All of this is my way of explaining, why I am excited to begin again. We all need something in our lives, no matter how happy we are, that is just ours. That something that makes us want to get up in the morning; proud of the effort we are making and satisfied that we are doing our part to make life better. Since my life has been a great deal about helping others, friends, family, and coworkers, sometimes strangers who became friends; it seemed perfect for me to blog about topics that could and would help others. There will be many topics, as my life has been very full, and it will be my pleasure to help others with questions, issues and problems where I can. In addition, I will be able to offer products for sale which are current, and up to date, to fill needs for those things we want and/or need. Some things just for fun will be included as well. My goal is to keep the prices in the range that most can easily afford, and just make life a little better for as many people as possible.

One of my favorite topics is crafting. I knit, crochet, sew, quilt, do some small needlepoint projects and a few other things over the years. I look forward to sharing my papier mache' recipe among other things. Once, quite a long time ago, I was going to start a web page called Craft with Gram. I don't think that can cover all the things I want to include now, but since my mother left us, I am the Gram in my family. So I will need a really creative name for my new page that will allow all who come for a visit to feel welcome, and comfortable. Just like a special visit, and a friendly chat, I want to invite all to stop by; Chat and Craft with Gram. Well, that may be it. I will let you all know if it will stick.
