Product vs Services in network marketing
Product vs Services - a question for the 21st Century
To be successful in network marketing or multi level marketing, you have to do two things
a) Build a team and teach them, what we call duplication.
and
b) Sell or move something, be it a service or an actual product
It is the second part, which often causes the challenge, since many compensation plans demand that you have to sell to a certain level every month to earn your commission on own sales and those of your team. It is why you hear the horror stories as auto-ships pile up at home, when people can't move all the products they order.
It is also why increasingly you see car boot sales where people try and recoup their money due to all this ordering.
Really quite frightening, and brings back memories of garages full of water filters, where many cut their teeth with door to door sales.
In my case, it was carpet cleaning and at the age of 18, a very educational experience, but I digress.
So back to sales in your network marketing business.
Naturally, we have to lead by example and there is no point in asking business partners to do things you are not prepared to do.
So why product, rather than service?
Genuinely, I do not know, since I have been service based from when I started way back in 1997.
It would not occur to me that I would have to revisit all my customers to ensure they are using their internet, electricity, gas and mobile phones. We as a nation in the United Kingdom do it automatically. People here do not need to be taught and you even see the kids of two and three playing with their parents iPads. Certainly more adept than me, and that brings up the subject of writing – a subject for another day I do think.
So being in a service based business means all I am doing is showing people a better and cheaper way to access the services they already use.
The last two customers have got stunning deals:
Faster broadband, cheaper energy, and free LED Lightbulbs too.
They have saved £320 and £625 respectively.
What is not to like?
All I have to do is check with them that all is okay from time to time, gather some referrals and see the commission come in each month.
Perhaps either or both, will one day want to join the business, and they will simply show their friends and family the standard of service and savings, and I will further profit too.
So there you have it as to why service is my preferred route, especially since I do not need to sign them up again each month – just the once.
Almost forgot, there are further savings to be made, since the company provides CashBack on day to day shopping and 2,000 further stores online.
