Now that you know the key points of creating an opt-in offer, you'll want to know how to make sure you're building a list of good email addresses that belong to people who are interested in what you have to tell them.
Remember, your list is only as good as the addresses on it, and if those addresses aren't owned by people who are interested in hearing from you, your marketing efforts will not bring you the results you desire.
With that in mind, here are a few tips to make sure you're building a solid list.
You might want to write these down.
1. Double Opt-in.
A double opt-in is when your autoresponder system sends a message to your subscriber with a link that they must visit in order to confirm their subion. If they don't click the link, they're not added to your email list.
This won't stop people from giving you a bad email address, but it will keep uninterested people off your list. That's good because you don't want people on your list if they're not going to read the emails you send them. Why? Because it's much better for your reputation as an email marketer and your deliverability rates if you keep your list clean.
2. Send Your Opt-in Offer To The Email They Give You
If you send the offer to the email they give you, they must give you a good address or they'll never get your offer.
This won't make them give you a good address, but then they won't get your offer, either. When you do this, you're making sure that your visitor is serious about getting your offer and receiving emails from you.
One last thing. Be sure you tell your visitors that you'll be sending the offer to the email address they give you. That one tip will drastically increase the number of good email addresses you collect.
3. Require Their Email Address For Access
This is by far the most effective means of getting a good email address. If you're offering access to a membership site or software tool, they must give you a good address or they won't be able to get the benefits.
Explain to your visitor that the email address they give you will be used as their username for the site you're giving them access to. You'll receive a much higher number of good email addresses because your visitors will want to make use of your site.
Keep these thoughts in mind when considering your opt-in offer.
