As most entrepreneurs are aware, the odds of a "start-up" business staying afloat for the
first 5 years are slim to none. A little background: My name is Peter J Lidstone. I have dabbled in the field of painting acrylics and oils on canvas for approximately 30 years. (I'm a 58 year old, born and bred, Minnesotan!).
This has always been a fantasy hobby. I would create "art" to relieve the stressful and completely chaotic life of a full-time father and provider in a 2-income but always struggling 5 person family.
I smile often now at the hilarious memories of those past years, with renewed vows
to never repeat that experience! My one and only"Ex" and myself are long-separated but on great terms, after all of the bad feelings disappated. . . . what was left is a pretty damn good family with grandkids to spoil. As an empty nester with a disability (peripheral neuropathy, but that's another story!) I made the astonishing decision to go to school. Really, for a lack of purpose in an isolated life, than any other reason. Being ever mindful that I dropped out of high school at age 16 and enlisted in the Marine corps. a year later. However, I was pretty anxious and excited about being a full-time student. Wow! My first lesson was: What is a college paper? Out of shear luck my very first class was, Analytical writing. (Thank God for "Word Document"). My instructor pounded into my stubborn head: "People don't want to read anything that states: "I believe, I think, I did, you should, etc,." He also pointed out: "No one gives a damn about your opinion on anything." So it went, paper after paper.
I had many other classes after that, requiring some really hard boiled research and writing,
and so I learned how to write a college paper! Apparently becoming a creative writer and once again vowing to never ever sign up for another writing class. This little snippet regarding my initial shock
