As a child, I always dreamed of working for myself and being able to take care of my family. Growing up, we were always tight on money and struggled to take care of bills often, as I know many have experienced before. With a chronically ill mother, sometimes it gets difficult to keep up with medical bills and medications, and many times we went without other things to make sure she had what she needed. 

Fast forward about 20 years, I became a graphic artist and while I very much enjoy the position, the job itself did not pay as well as promised. Being stuck in a dead-end position was not an option for me, so I began looking elsewhere.

Then Covid-19 shut the world down. 

Anyone and everyone started searching for jobs, and in turn, I got little to no interviews or callbacks. I found that many positions I sought for, that I was good enough to do, wanted at least a bachelor's. All I have is a certificate from a technology school. With the idea that no one would even look at me without a bachelor's, I started my journey to earn the piece of paper. 

But in the meantime, what was I going to do? 

I decided that instead of being angry and stuck at my job, I would begin looking at different types of ways to earn money. I've run into things that didn't work, and in many cases, have lost money. I quietly gave up and put my all back into my job and school.
