Are You the Starving Baker?

I once read a story about Entrepreneurship that stopped me in my tracks.

It was a story about a Baker, and it goes like this.

Just imagine: You walk into a brand new beautiful bakery built on the corner of this beautiful city block.  The smell of fresh baked pastries fills the air.  This is the place where all hot fresh fluffy pastry treats are served all day long.  Old friends are meeting up for long overdue coffee dates, bloggers bring their laptops to work in the beautiful atmosphere it has.  You order your danish and coffee, watch as the baker does his thing, and you go and sit a table by the window.  The Baker is brilliant!  He does everything himself, he takes your order, rings you through, bakes the goodies, cleans the tables, does the dishes and greats the guests.  But after watching him for a while, you notice that he looks very thin.  You begin to think, "He is so busy doing everything himself, he forgets to eat.  He's starving himself!"

Are you that starving baker?  Most times, we get so busy that we forget to feed ourselves.  Life starts to happen and we get so busy with our kids, jobs, errands,  house, that we forget to press "pause" and feed ourselves.  You can start to feel hollow and empty, when in reality, we just need to stop for a minute and do something for ourselves whether it is personal development, a yoga class, a walk or listening to a good podcast.  You aren't empty, you are starving yourself.  You have been so busy tending to everyone else, you forget to feed yourself with what keeps you growing.  

You are not alone, we have all been there at some point.

If I can offer you any advice, it is to press pause, and find what fills your cup.  Don't think of it as selfish time, but time to do something for your mind and soul that will be effective in a positive way so you can then poor that into your team, your family, friends and the people that you have not yet met!  Plan to commit to this everyday and see how much you will grow!  We can only grow and develop as much as we feed ourselves.
