My Story - part of it at least...AKA MY WHY!

Everything I do is because I have to.

Don't get me wrong; I actually really enjoy marketing and networking with other people.

But what I enjoy even more is being able to provide for my family and be financially stable. You see, back in 2018, my wife had a heart attack, and that heart attack took her out of the game. Not to the extreme and possibly terrible ending that could have been, but what it did end with was her ability to work anymore.

We've been through half a dozen cardiologists, specialists, and other medical professionals that we've been directed to, but no one has ever been able to figure out how to help her feel whole again. She is perpetually exhausted, often experiences chest pains, and can't even stand for more than a few minutes at a time before she gets light-headed.

No one has been able to figure her out, no one has been able to help her, and here we are, five years later, with no more answers than we had in 2018.

Then add in my daughter, my beautiful inside and outside daughter. She struggles with anxiety and self-confidence. She's had to deal with a speech impediment as well as a stutter for the past few years. So for her, I strive to show her that it's okay to fail in life as long as you keep trying and you keep going back until you succeed. I also show her that it's okay to put yourself out there, to be vulnerable and authentic, because that will bring similar people back to you, your friends, and your circle of influence.

But for both of them, for our whole family, I need to not only provide, I need to THRIVE and build something that will allow us to enjoy our time together.

I don't come from money, I don't come from a very privileged family. My family consists of farmers, blue-collar workers, and truck drivers. Me? I've always leaned into leadership education, marketing, and networking. My father told me to never become a truck driver like he did, so I avoided that career path altogether. But what my dad did show me is that if you work hard enough at something you truly enjoy, you can be successful.

He was a little bit late in life to learn that lesson for himself; however, once he started his own trucking business, it was the happiest I had seen him in all my life.

People are always giving advice in this industry to tell your story, to share where you come from.

Well, I come from dirt poor. I come from living in a trailer, sleeping on the floor, and occasionally on the couch.

I come from wearing hand-me-down clothes and thrift shop specials.

And even now that I am over 40 years old, I do not want to be ultra-rich and ultra-wealthy.

All I want is enough financial security so that I can pay for what I need (bills), enjoy what I love (family, friends, and experiences), and do good for others when possible (follow the Golden Rule!).
