Why hesitate to invest?

I am sure we have all run into this, we discuss a business opportunity with someone and they turn around and ask why they should have to invest any money.  Really?

If you were going to open up a store, start a landscaping business, a painting business....anything like that, wouldn't you have to make an investment?  Uh, yep you would. 

So why is investing in a network marketing business looked at so differently?  I personally think its for a few reasons. 

First, I feel its how we deliver the message.  I don't think we do a good enough job of telling people this is a true business opportunity.  Its sold more as product sales and an opportunity to make some extra money VS run a business and make a lifestyle.  Doesn't that sound better anyway?

Second, something we are all up against, is the bad image that network marketing has.  I am willing to be we all have run into people who have been scammed, know people who have been scammed, or who have tried it and made no money.  There are too many of these out there and they scare people away.  The fact of the matter is, too many people think they can just jump into something like this, tell a few people, and retire rich.  Nope....doesn't work like that at all.  People don't realize that because this is a business, it requires a lot of hard work and dedication.  I know this for sure.  I have my own two network marketing businesses I do and its a hell of a lot of work.  But then again, I understand the work is required. 

If we want to attract good people into our business, we need to do a better job of explaining the opportunity, as well as making sure they understand this these aren't get rich quick schemes....they will take hard work, but if they apply themselves the limits are endless.  

So what is the best business to look into?  It needs to be one you believe in.  I, for one, feel its so much harder to find success doing something you don't believe in.  That's why its OK to be selective.  That's also another piece of the puzzle.  If you don't believe in what you are doing and are just out to make a quick buck, how can you expect others to invest in the product and the business either?
