How do you select a good network marketing business opportunity?

So you know that you want to step in to the world of network marketing, or maybe you have made your first step but are looking for a new/another business opportunity. What are some of the key things you should consider when doing your due diligence?

1) - Probably the most important thing to be clear on is what you are interested in. It does matter how good the company and/or support is, if you have products that does not make you want to shout them out to the world, you are going to struggle to build your business successfully. Why, because you will lack the motivation needed to do the daily tasks needed to grow your business.

2) - When you know the type of business you are looking for, you then need to do your research on what is available in the marketplace. Make a list of all of the companies that operate in your country and research them:

- How long have they been in business?
- Are they debt free?
- What is their long term direction? Do they have new products scheduled? 
- Does the company have momentum i.e. are they growing in terms of revenue, profit and global reach? This is particularly important if you want to grow a large international business.
- Do they have products that people need and want to buy, at a price they are willing to pay? Is the target market easily identifiable and do you have access to that target market? If the products are high end niche, you need to have a network that would be looking for those types of products.
- What does the compensation plan look like? Are there any joining fees and what do you get for that fee? Are there any minimum monthly order requirements to qualify for commissions from your team? What does the rank advancement process look like, do you lose your rank if team sales volume drops? Are there any restrictions on you having another income stream/business?
- What marketing support is available, is this all readily available for you to start quickly or are you expected to create it for yourself, this will require additional investment! What restrictions exist when marketing i.e. can you use the company name, can you use your own images of the products, are there restrictions for the use of social media. All of this is important if you want to expand your business beyond your immediate geographical location.

3) - Once you have identified the company you would like to join, select the team/sponsor you join very carefully. Check out their social media profile, does it create the type of image you want for your business. What additional support is available outside of your up line (so if they leave you can still get the right help). Ask to speak to their up line, and ask questions about the team activities, social events, training schedule etc. A good team/sponsor that is focused on your personal growth & business success will be able to 'show' you what is available and how to access it.

4) Order some of the products as a customer first, especially important if your chosen business is one that makes claims of improving your health/body in some way. It is no use joining the company, getting your starter pack and then realising you don't like the products yourself!! - You have to be a complete advocate for the products you are selling.
