Thousand of people are being put out of work
Canada is losing a big player in the retail industry and that being SEAR who for so many years competed with EATON's in the catalogue world bring us each Christmas the "WISH". I remember as a little girl the catalogue would come to the house and I would sit down and look at all the fancy clothes and great toys and all i could do was WISH as i knew there was no use in asking as my father would never allow us to have those types of things.
Yesterday, this first day of summer, about 3000 people were told they were losing their jobs as countless number stores would be closing their doors.
Now what does this mean for you as a home based business owner living in the areas of one of these stores. It means a great opportunity to reach out to these people and offer them an opportunity to turn lemons into lemonade by starting their own business so no one can ever fire them again. An opportunity to make the income they have always wanted. An opportunity to never have to rely on anyone else for a paycheque again.
I would imagine right now the black cloud they feel hanging over them as for some of the employees they have been with the company for countless number of years.
What is great they will be able to get government assistance for a while which means that they will have some funds coming in while they build a business of their own.
So get out their advertise your business, hand out business cards get the word out about your business, make yourself known and basically maybe doe these people a great favor by showing them how successful they can be.
Is it a sign of the time or is it a sign of a company not keeping up with the trends. You have to be able to evolve when you are in business and unfortunately that is not what SEARS did and now they are going the same way that EATON's did when they didn't stay current. Both companies were war time stores and as far as i know know there is only one left at least in Canada and that is the Army and Navy stores and they are few and far between. Online shopping is the new catalogue of today and I also hear something amazing about Amazon they are going into the online grocery business. WOW again a show of how you have to evolve to stay current.
Take a page from the past and add a page from the present and form a path for your business to follow.
