How to be the leader you’re looking for
On my live broadcast the other day I was talking about asking questions and looking for someone to tell you what to do.
I'm a big fan of asking questions... but looking for someone to tell you what to do... not so much.
That may be a little weird coming from a business consultant, but there it is :)
Lately my iPhone has been giving me fits.
Specifically when opening a link.
Every single time, it would ask me if I wanted to use Chrome or Safari.
I love Chrome and I use it all the time on my Macbook Pro... but on my phone I always use Safari.
I don't know why... perhaps it's brand loyalty.
Anyhoo, it just started doing this again - probably because of an app update.
So I did what any hard-charger looking for answers would do in a situation like this... I Googled it.
As usual, Google didn't let me down.
Within seconds I found the key to my puzzle and made the necessary adjustments.
Problem solved.
This is exactly what I was talking about in my video.
Taking the time to go out and find answers for yourself.
I can't count the number of times I've seen a post in a social media group asking for tech advice.
Usually it's a simple question and the answer could be found easily in an FAQ.
For the sake of argument, let's say it's not.
There's an entire team of tech specialists paid by the company to answer questions.
If you're paying for the software, you're paying for support.
So why on Earth would you post your question in a forum full of people who probably have no idea what you're talking about?
Here's what a leader would do...
She'd go to the FAQ.
If the answer wasn't clear, she'd contact support.
She'd find an answer to the problem and maybe even help support improve the FAQs.
Then she'd roll on over to her social media group... post the problem she had... and give the solution.
Why?
Because she wants to help people out and be seen as someone who has solution.
That's how you solve a problem... help other people... and show you're a leader.
Be the type of person you'd like to find online... and you'll never have to look for prospects.
