It is Never Too Late to Try

I want to become a doctor. I want to become an engineer. I want to write a computer program or app that will change how a particular thing is done. I want to travel around the world. I want to start that business. I want... I want... I want is all most of us dream of.

But have you actually sit down and thought of what you need to do to turn the "I want" into reality? Have you sat down and look at the cost of doing what you dream of? Have you look at the available options you have to make your dream a reality?

This I want syndrome keep many people into bondage with nothing to show for their long walk on earth. Now that they have become old, they are wondering - now that I'm old, how can I follow my passion? How can I still do what I dreamt of doing? It is too late, I'm too old to do this!

Well, I have news for you - it is never too late to start! You don't believe me?!

Charles Eugster started his professional athletics career at the age of 95 years old. Oh yes you hear me right. At 95 years of age. Many of you may consider that age as an impossible age to do anything not to talk of running in a championship.

At age 97, Charles break a world record and became a champion. He even won Caroline's heart who was 79 years of age and they fell in love. Incredible you say?! Do you say you're too old to fall in love at that age? Then think again.

James Uku from Nigeria started his primary school at the age of 62 years. He never had the opportunity to go to school when he was young. But he fancied being in school uniform, reading books, writing and defending the rights of others who cannot defend themselves.

He decided against all odds that he is going to school to be able to read, write and also become a practicing lawyer. He discussed his dream with his children and great grandchildren, but they simply laugh at him as one of his numerous joke. They even make jest of him.

Mr. Uku decided enough is enough, he will take his destiny in his hands. He went to the primary school close to his house and discussed his dreams with the headteacher who encourages him not to give up on his dreams. Mr. Uku enrolls in his first school in his life and walk home a fulfilled man.

The next day he went to his tailor and demanded to be sown a school uniform. His tailor became curious and asked him if his great grandchild he is sowing the uniform is like him. Mr. Uku stunned his tailor and he told him proudly that he is now a student.

He resumed school the following week. He stands out among the students, not just his height, size, years but in everything. The children who were rude make fun of him but Mr. Uku was not deterred by their moral bankruptcy. Soon, the students realized Mr. Uku was there to stay and not just to add numbers but to make impact.

He graduated as one of the best students in spite of his age. He preceded to the secondary school owned by one of his son. He warned his son that he was not coming there to be pitied but to study, so he should be treated like any other student.

Mr. Uku went through secondary education and the University graduating with honors in Law and Jurisprudence at the age of 74. At 76 years, he was call to bar and worked in the profession he so much wished in the past before his demise at the age of 98.

This is a typical example of someone who has taken actions and eliminated the fear of "it is too late to start" to become an example to generations yet unborn.

Are you considering yourself too old or it is too late for you to do the things you so much desire over the years? Rise up and take up your destiny and achieve your dreams.
