Serial Failure
This is NOT going to be yet another feel-good message about how ya gotta fail more, fail often or failure is not an option BS.
Just the opposite.
I think failure sucks. I’ve missed my target far more often than I’ve hit it, and not once have I ever been happy with that result. Not even a little bit.
The truth is, I don’t believe in failure.
I get the concept, but missing a question on a test or losing a game doesn’t make a failure any more than getting a perfect score on the test or winning a game makes a success.
The “me too!” marketers and newbies who don’t know any better continue to crow about how failure is the greatest thing. They’d like you to believe that they enjoy failing, and it’s much better than success.
But why don’t they advertise that?
Why don’t they say things like “I can show you how to fail consistently over and over until you finally go broke and are forced to stay at that job you hate for the rest of your life trying to pay off all the debt you racked up with this online marketing thing.”
Because if they did, nobody would want to hear it. Nobody would click their links or buy their stuff, because nobody wants to fail.
How about this one?
“You either succeed or learn”. Ever heard that one?
Don’t these boneheads think that learning what works is at least as valuable as learning what doesn’t work?
After all, you can find an unlimited number of ways to get things wrong, but that’ll never feed your family.
What’s the point of all this?
I’ve figured out a few things that I’d like to share with you. The rock-solid foundation of every single successful marketing business that ever blasted it’s way onto the Internet.
I share these things because I failed A LOT.
