I Use To Feel That Way Too....
I was once talking to a coaching client who complained she had a list of 2,700 email subscribers .She said she was emailing her her list every day, as instructed, but she wasn't making money. I asked her what she was mailing. She said she was mostly sending out useful articles and videos. She wanted her subscribers to like her. I asked how often was she pitching her product. She said she didn't. She said she was hoping her subscribers like her so much, they'd proactively seek out her product online.
Your email marketing income is directly proportionate to the amount of offers you make to your email subscribers. If you're building an email list to make money (and if not, you shouldn't be building a list in the first place), you you should pitch your offer in every email. The resistance to making frequent offers comes from the conditioning people have of either bad at sales or feeling bad about selling because it's unethical.
I use to feel this way about selling because I was raised by a waitress who never made much money in her life and never considered money to be important. If you're armed with the same belief, consider the following scenario . You founded a cancer-treating machine. This machine is capable of healing 7 out of 10 patients. Your neighbor Bob has a 12- year-old daughter Sally. Sally has been diagnosed with stage 2 cancer. The treatment costs $14,000. You know Bob doesn't have this kind of money saved up. .But he could get it, if he was willing to borrow it or he was willing to sell his truck and jet ski .What would you do? Would you casually mention it to Bob over coffee once? Or would you nag Bob every single day, knocking on his door, calling him, sending him mail pigeons and doing whatever necessary to get his attention to give him an opportunity to save his daughter's life? It would be your moral and ethical obligation to "sell" Bob on your machine. It would be the right thing to do.
If you don't feel comfortable pitching your product every day (even though your email subscribers opted in to learn more about it indicating their interest), consider getting something else to market, because chances are you don't believe in your product.
