The road to Becoming financially Literate
When I graduated High School, I was told that the only way to succeed in life was to get a high paying job which was though having a good education. So, I studied Hard to get accepted to a university however my plans did not go as plan and I failed. When my Parents heard about this they were so disappointed that they lost all hope that I could make it in life or succeed, I thought the same as well because I thought they had more experience.
Furthermore, I still needed to survive so I went out and got a job. Long story short I realised many things while at the work place. Some things related with people, systems and most importantly people’s mindset towards finances. I heard a saying that education at school is good but education on the street is better (street smarts), that was the type of education I was getting not being aware of it at the time. One of my Realisation was that mostly everyone trades their precious time for money regardless of profession, because that’s how we were brought up.
Fortunately, there is a profession that does not play under these rules -entrepreneurship (network marketing). Ultimately, I realised as an employee I do not have much control, pay taxes first, trading time for money and most importantly working hard for something I cannot own (also get fired from). When I became aware of this my mindset changed completely- working hard to build businesses which you can have control over sounds better don’t you think? But why are we not taking the opportunity to make that change? It is fear and It was one of my greatest challenges, but now I have come to acknowledge this fact.
Just as we all have weakness we also have strengths, when we face our fears of change we develop a very important trait essential for life-courage.
