Why You Should Consider Marketing Over Prospecting

I like talking to people, I really do. I love to get past the chit chat as fast as possible and dive into what really makes them tick. So if you have a conversation with me, I’m going to ask you a lot of questions like: “Why is that important to you?” Unfortunately, I don’t get the opportunity very often to have a great one-on-one because I’m an introvert. Oops. Can you really find success in network marketing when your an introvert? Absolutely. This is just one of the reasons why you should consider marketing over prospecting.

The Problem With  Prospecting

Here’s what we’re taught:

Make a list - Talk to 5-20 people a day - 3 foot rule - FORM - Consistency - Go for no - Take massive action - Follow up - Meet up - Don’t give up

That’s basic prospecting. I know I’m not supposed to re-invent the wheel, but for somebody like me, this strategy is not very appealing. I can do all that for sure, but it just doesn’t sit right. I do not enjoy calling friends and family to ask them if they want to join my business. Think about it, if you were interviewing potential employees, are your friends and family really the experts? You’re looking for people with skills and burning ambition. At best, your warm market will certainly appreciate your enthusiasm for your product or service, and they might even buy from you, but that doesn’t mean they want to sell. Your business is like any other in that your objective is to hire or recruit as many as possible to help you talk about your opportunity. You’re looking for individuals who have purchased similar programs in the past or who are actively searching for the solution you have to offer. By the way, if there’s something on that list that you haven’t heard of, leave me a comment below and I’ll elaborate. Sometimes I forget that I’ve had a tremendous amount of training and I just expect everyone to know what I know. I love to coach, so don’t be shy, ask me a question!

Why Do It The Hard Way?

Lets face it, it takes a lot of work to explain the concept of network marketing. Most compensation plans are extremely complicated. If your potential business partner hasn’t been exposed to earning residual income vs trading time for dollars you’re speaking a different language. And then you’ve got to get past the pyramid scheme mentality. I don’t blame people for jumping to conclusions. I monitor ads for typical home business promotions, and I’ve found the craziest get rich quick guarantees. It’s hard to believe these people think we fall for that stuff. You can’t make money doing nothing, obviously. If you haven’t learned how to explain the difference between an opportunity and a scam to your prospects, hear this. There has to be a product. Direct sales is similar to leaving a review on Amazon, only the reviewer gets paid for his recommendation. However, even this simple explanation is not an effective way to convince an uneducated person to believe you when they are surrounded by all the other noise. That’s why it takes an average of 7 - 8 follow ups before your candidate will even make a decision to try your product. It just wasn’t making sense to me, which is why I looked into marketing.

Marketing Rocks

It’s not just more effective, it’s FUN. You can get creative with marketing. You can build your brand, find your voice and state your mission. It gives you a platform to build on. I think the most exciting part is that as you build your business, you learn how to identify and define your purpose. It will help you to grow personally. When you think about it, isn’t that what we’re all here for? There’s got to be more than promoting your company’s products. Instead of reaching out to a few people one-on-one, marketing helps you to engage a massive audience, so let’s make it count. People don’t buy the product, they buy you. Your belief is what sells. Marketing can turn your hobby into financial freedom when you discover what makes you unique, and apply that to your message. If you want to create loyal followers who love and use your products you have to give them something more.

Experiment

If you think social media is too saturated with sponsored ads think again. Yes, continuous appeals to “buy my product" turn people off because let’s call it like it is: SPAM. But for those who take the time to learn the art of marketing, it can be a floodgate. They call attraction marketing experts the “rainmakers.” I would like to invite you to follow me on my journey of discovery into the land of marketing. You may not know me very well, but I'm out there. I've taught myself how to build websites, I'm on Instagram, Twitter, Google+, Linked In, Facebook, Yelp, Pinterest, Tumbler, YouTube, Vimeo, Snapchat…and there are a few more that I know forgotten about. This has all been set up for dabbling, collecting information, experimentation and LOTS of fails. Yes, fails are good because when you know what doesn’t work, you can start off in new direction. That's always exciting! New beginnings are what keep me going. The time spent experimenting has been of tremendous VALUE to me because now I can pass along all that knowledge to you. I want to give you the shortcuts. Why? Because that's the essence of network marketing. You succeed by helping others get what they need.

You Know More Than You Think You Know

You have a unique perspective based on years of accumulated knowledge. When you tap into your own resources, your own personal story, you have a very special way to connect with and inspire others. Don’t hide your gift! Don’t hold up the line! Be brave enough to step out of your comfort zone and express your true feelings because it allows others to do the same. Your marketing message is what will drive your products, your business and our economy. As a marketer, your ideas, as they come to fruition can turn lives around. You are creating a legacy of sustainable growth with network marketing. This is not the time to hold back and lay low because of your fear of what people will think. You have the vision and the insight that will help families who are struggling create a better future. On top of that, we now more than ever have the digital tools and analytics to guide us. Most of what I’ve learned has been from a simple Google search, and there are tons of training videos on YouTube. I'm all about efficiency and effectiveness, and one thing I know for sure is that creating evergreen content that you OWN is definitely the way to go. Once you create a following, your business will skyrocket. I have an example you should take a look at of a sales funnel that I created for my team. It’s a one stop shop, so that my downline can direct qualified leads to a presentation summing up the concept of the network marketing business model, our products and exactly how we earn immediate cash as well as long term residual income. I learned how to do this with the help of Tony Rush. Please save yourself some time and energy and sign up for his program, I highly recommend it! (Please note that the links in this article may be promotions or affiliate links, another really cool thing you get to do with your own content.)

Duplication Is Key

My husband used to tell me (when he dared) that my system is not duplicatable. All that time and hard work building my following and creating content can’t possibly be done by somebody else. I’m here to tell you there are people doing it all the time. Once you catch on, you’ll be able to create the time freedom like I did. Yes, I used to work 6 days a week for somebody else, and now that time is my own. You have unlimited options here. All you need to do is explore and get your creative juices going. Find something that excites you! Even if your company forbids online marketing there are ways around it. Just talk about what a difference your product has made in your life and don't mention the name of the company. You’ll experience much better success that way because people will want to know what you have, trust me. Take it offline and THEN…that’s when duplication is key. You see, the whole advantage of partnering with a network marketing company is to be able to use all of their resources. Seriously, the only thing they need from you is new customers. Everything else is handled. At least, that’s how it is with my company. Do you want to see what that looks like? Let me know and I’m happy to show you.
