Choose A Sponsor Wisely!

I’ve seen it happen time and again and I’m tired of it. You join a business opportunity only to find your upline is done with you and already looking for the next sign up. Train you? Coach you? Consider yourself lucky if you have an upline that sticks around to nurture you.

So how do you choose a reliable business partner anyway? What do you look for in the person with whom you’ll invest time and effort (and money)? It’s not fun, nor does it give the business a good name, to find you’ve been left on your own to make it work.

Monetary gain is only one part of the equation when evaluating an opportunity. You must look at the people behind the business opportunity to know their heart and mind and include that in your determination. The most important part of a business partnership is knowing the people you are working with… trusting the people you are working with… building with the people you are working with.

Key Elements

Here are the key elements we feel are important when looking at the people behind the business.

1. Almost everyone making an offer wants to entice you to believe that theirs is a quick and easy road to riches and wealth. Well, come to think of it, there is, if you’ve got the nerve to rob a bank. But, what you are interested in is the honest truth behind an opportunity.

It’s a business “opportunity” for a reason, it’s not a business guarantee. It has potential, it’s a possibility, but it’s not a certain path to the mansion, expensive cars and private jets. Every business I’ve been in has required work. I know, “work” is a four letter word . Few are willing to embrace it today. Being successful takes work and that’s the truth. Hitching your star to an honorable organization and trustworthy individual is essential. Can you trust them to tell you the way it is?
First Value: Honesty

2. Here’s the good news for being in network marketing: you’re using the Principle of Leverage to your advantage. Leverage? How about this… would you rather have $1,000,000 tax free right now or a penny doubled every day for 30 days? (Careful, it’s a trick question. DO the math.)

By building a team, a group of business partners working WITH you, you compound your efforts. Instead of doing ALL the work yourself, others on your team do a little bit of the work. Everyone’s efforts are then multiplied. Additionally, you do the work once but get paid over and over again, just like a book author or song writer. Would you rather have 100% of your own efforts or 5% of the efforts of 100?
Look again, is the person you’re signing up with going to show you the way to duplicate your efforts through training, coaching and example? Do they truly understand the value of leverage?
Second Value: Leverage

3. Many successful network marketers claim that their business is really a personal development course with a product and business model attached to it. I agree.

Personal growth, deep lasting connections and a sense of belonging to something bigger than oneself all contribute to the success of the network marketing business model. Where else can you find a business model where the core element is self improvement?

Most employers want a day’s work out of you for as little as they can pay and care little about your growth as a person. When seeking a new business partner one might also consider the available personal training. Network marketers true to the cause want their people to improve their inner self and grow as a person and thus to become successful.

Does your upline value your self-improvement and personal-development? Do they continue their education?
Third Value: Personal Growth

4. As mentioned, very few business models are designed with the workers’ success in mind. No, these models are designed with the owners’ success in mind. (That is the definition of a true pyramid.) If you get any training it is specifically for the job you are doing. And, if an employer can find another employee for less money, willing to do a better job than you, you’re replaced and out of work without a second thought.

Fortunately, network marketing is designed 180 degrees from that model; totally opposite. When any business partner succeeds, it’s to the benefit of all, both upline and downline. It is in the self interest of all partners to see that new persons are trained, coached, motivated and guided to success. Success in network marketing is not a set-it-and-forget-it business. It is coaching, training, encouraging over the long haul.
Fourth Value: Ongoing Support

In the end…

Choosing a Home Based business partner is really important. I know, I’ve been without support and having support is better. That’s not to say you cannot succeed without the right upline sponsor, it is to say it’s helpful when you choose someone with the traits you value, esteem and respect. Remember, people join people in business and you are the reason they will join you.
