Leverage is the ability to influence a system or an environment in a way that multiplies the outcome of one's efforts without a corresponding increase in the consumption of resources. In other words, leverage is the advantageous condition of having a relatively small amount of cost that can yield a relatively high level of returns. There are any number of leveraging applications that are employed in the banking, insurance, corporate and commercial business realm, most of which are applied in and for corporate investment leverage or operating purposes. There are also other applications and means of leveraging as well that aren't commonly known or practiced, such as the little-known application of cooperative private leveraging.

Cooperative private leveraging best defines itself as the act of leveraging an equal amount of capital among its private membership community who voluntarily and collectively work together in mutual cooperation, where each member may ultimately achieve their common goal - financial independence.
