A Perfect Business For Millennials?

Are you a millennial, or would you like to build your business with millennials?  If so, it’s important to understand the values they hold, and how your business aligns with them.

First off, let’s acknowledge that we’re all individuals, impossible to typecast. That said, there are forces that affect each generation leading to common experiences and perspectives, including what we want from our work life.

When you look at opportunities, are these the sorts of things you look for?

1.    Flexibility.  Most millennials value freedom highly, and an important component of this is time freedom. One great aspect of network marketing is our ability to choose when we work, without a fixed schedule.

2.    Coaches, not supervisors. Who wants to be told what to do? No, we want mentors, not bosses. Guides, not masters. Network marketing companies at their best are volunteer armies of like-minded individuals, bound together by a common mission, in an environment of mutual support.

3.    Empowerment and trust. Trust is the ultimate currency of business. As Zig Ziglar said, "If people like you, they’ll listen to you, but if they trust you, they’ll do business with you.”

4.    A workplace culture that is both challenging and fun. Are there skills that need to be learned? Absolutely. But being part of a culture that puts the fun in fundamentals turns challenge into excitement.

If your business has all of these, congratulations.  Now, it’s a matter of communicating that value to young entrepreneurs in a way that shows them that they can get what they want, in a work environment that fits who they are.

Here’s an example of that, in a video my company recently produced, for millennials in the USA: http://bit.ly/DownloadYourFreedomUSA (if you’re Canadian, here’s your version: http://bit.ly/DownloadYourFreedomCanada).

Does this speak to you?  If so, congratulations, you’re a millennial, or at least have millennial tendencies!

If not, consider the bigger picture. After all, we are network marketers, so who do you know who is a young entrepreneur, or knows people in their 20’s who can relate to the issues that Justin raises in the video:

-    Underemployment, unemployment, and student loan debt.

-    Social and economic change leading to the rise of word of mouth marketing (read Facebook, Instagram, Snapchat, Netflix, Twitter, Uber).

-    Emergence of smartphones, social media, and the impact on our lives.

-    Disruptive technologies leading to opportunities for growth, profit and freedom.

These are forces affecting not just a generation, but entire societies.  Are you building a business that is positioned in the sweet spot to ride this wave?

Wishing you great success!
