In consumer behavior research, cognitive factors are often emphasized in the decision-making process. In addition to scarcity fears, visitors are also influenced by the urgency of visiting, such as anticipating regret ("I may miss out by not acting now"). Economic incentive strategies emphasize economic gains, but scarcity increases the emotional impact of the strategy.

It is important to distinguish between urgency and scarcity. While both encourage the visitor to act, they do so for different reasons.

Scarcity is when a visitor feels that there are not enough places to go to get what they want, so there is a sense of competition. In urgency, the visitor is not competing with any other potential consumer, but must meet your deadline in order to receive the incentive.

While both methods are effective in converting visitors, if they are overused or not used effectively, their value and impact on visitors will be diminished.

Engaging visitors with incentives on your website is one of the most effective tools you can use. It is possible, however, to damage your credibility if you provide too many incentives.

If you use incentives in combination or separately, make sure that your visitors do not become frustrated. It's important to bear in mind that if you bluff your visitors with urgency or scarcity, you are ultimately going to destroy their trust.
