I will never again rely on a wage....

With at least 1.1 million people confirmed to have Coronavirus in the world (although the actual number of cased likely to be far, far higher) and 60,000 sadly dying to this deadly virus, it's fair to say that the world is in deed very much in the face of a crisis.

And for many of us the effects of this virus are wide reaching. For me it is one reason why I will never rely on a wage again.

Although I had been building my online businessfor a while now, it had always been a hobby around my conventional "safe" business running a driving school. Since starting my online business I had decided that my driving school "safe" business would come first, and then, and only if I had spare time, would I build my online business.

How wrong could I have been?

You see the moment lockdown came into force, I completely lost my income. It went from a few thousand a month to nothing over night. In fact worse than that, I am actually making a loss, because there are some business costs which I have to pay regardless of working or not.

It's been a very stressful time. I have had sleepless nights thinking about will I survive this, will my business last, will the customers come back after the lockdown, will there be a recession.

Then this morning (on a night I actually got a bit of sleep) I awoke to a reminder that I had made a very BIG mistake.

It was an email telling me that I had made a sale and earned a commission.

Nice email to get, right?

But this made me wonder what would have happened if I had chosen to run my online business, as a business. What if I would have decided to make it a priority, what if if I had of actually invested both my time and money into this online business as I had my driving school where would I be now?

Just maybe I wouldn't be writting about how I'd lost my income over night.

But once thing I can be very thankful for, is the lesson learned.

Never again will I decide to rely on a "safe" wage...
