SMART Goal Setting - How to Reach Your Ultimate Goal!
So we all know that a goal is just a dream until it is written down. Also, in this industry, if we do not have a WHY and goals to work towards, we are shooting in the dark!
I love goal setting. Daily, weekly, monthly and yearly. The daily, weekly and monthly goals can be the stepping stones to get to your destination goals - ultimately your WHY.
So whatever your goals are, they need to be SMART. But what does that mean? Keep reading and I will break it down for you!
A SMART Goal is:
S - Specific
A specific goal is one that you have a clear vision on achieving. It is a defined end point at which you can plan out your activity to match. What is the time limit? Where are you when you reach it? What were you wearing? Who were you celebrating with? A specific goal is one that you know exactly what it is big or small.
M – Measurable
Your goal needs to have an end date. So write it down! Remember a goal not written down is just a dream! This is where daily, weekly, monthly and yearly planning comes into play. Do the daily, weekly and monthly actions and plans you have measure up to this goal you have set?
A – Achievable
Is your goal something that you can actually achieve? Of course it is! But with that being said, it has to be something that you can work towards that is not so overwhelming you giveup the first sign of rejection. I work with a top industry leader who when she first started, her goal was to open an orphanage in India for hundreds of boys and girls. She had started to face rejection, and was ready to quit because she felt as if she was never going to reach her goal. But what her mentor had told her was that she needed to start with an achievable goal, that was then going to add up to her ultimate goal. And as I write this today, she has opened two orphanages in India and is working on her third!
R – Realistic
This part goes hand in hand with “A”. Is your goal realistic enough that you can see yourself achieving it? Are your daily income producing activities (IPA) simple and realistic enough to reach your goal? Remember, network marketing is a very “simple” business, but that doesn’t mean it is easy. So putting in the “work” is going to get you where you want to go.
T – Timely
Do you have your date written down? Remember about how a goal not written down is just a dream?! Goals written down with a date are far more likely to come into fruition VS a goal without a date. So write it down, plan out your actions that need to be done, and for added measure, I always sign mine and put it up on every mirror in my house as a daily reminder to stay focused!
You are in business for yourself, but not by yourself! But remember, nobody is responsible for your dreams and goals but YOU!
