Battery Recycling, an industry that must grow in the future
The auto industry is shy trying to make the switch from fossil fuel cars to electric cars, which would greatly reduce pollution on our planet. But at the moment, the electric car industry is facing certain barriers, namely, the autonomy of the car. The current technologies of batteries used on electric cars do not offer a sufficient autonomy. Today, the Electric car with the longest range currently on sale is the Tesla Model S Long Range. It can travel a maximum distance of 375-mile range (WLTP) on a single battery charge. But it comes with a price of £ 77,200. Tesla's progress is quite encouraging, but the road is long. Lithium-ion batteries are prized, but also quite expensive. We are looking for cheaper, safer and longer downloading technologies. Also, the battery life is very important. Batteries with Aluminum Air can be a solution, but not the technology must be well developed.
Another important criterion in the development of the future types of batteries for the car is the toxicity of the materials and if they can be easily recycled. For this reason, we seek the most environmentally friendly technologies. Also the cost of manufacturing matters, which involves the manufacture of these batteries. For nothing, we reduce pollution by using them in the electric car industry if the production of these types of accumulators involves environmental pollution by exploiting raw materials.
As I said, an important aspect to consider when creating new types of batteries is the recycling of these batteries. Recycling should be as easy as possible, without any harmful substances to the environment. Also, the storage of the batteries must be safe. The collection should be easy to perform, even by individuals, without assuming special conditions of transport and storage. The materials from which the batteries are made do not have to be toxic, they can be easily extracted in the recycling process, without having to use energofage technologies. Even the density of the materials from which the batteries are made will matter. The more compact and lighter they are, the higher the performance of the electric cars they will use, they will increase. The volume for the batteries on the car will be smaller. This will give the user more useful space.
All these criteria must be taken into account for the development of future batteries for electric cars.
