My Top 5 Email Marketing Tips

Email marketing is a very powerful way to grow your business, find new customers, and keep in touch with past customers. But to do this effectively, you need a contact manager program and a game-plan. I will teach you how to do that in the paragraphs below.

Tip # 1: Use an Auto-Responder

If you aren’t using an auto-responder, you are WAY behind the power curve. A good auto-responder lets you create pre-written emails and keep in touch with your prospects automatically, at a frequency you determine. Also, it manages your leads for you. It automatically adds leads when they subscribe and it removes leads who unsubscribe. I recommend you use Aweber. I've been using them almost 10 years now and love them.

Tip # 2: Focus on Building Your List

I believe that “building your list” should be your top priority. You need to actively build your prospect list. That means you should be adding new names to your list each day. In my opinion, generating leads is more important than generating sales. Instead of advertising your products, create a capture page and give away something free, in exchange for the person’s name and email.

As you generate leads, some people will buy your products and services right away. Others might take 6-12 months to buy what you are offering them. Remember that most people will need to see your message 10-20 times (at least) before they respond. The money is in the list, but the fortune is in the follow-up!

Tip # 3: Send Daily Emails

Some people might disagree with this, but I truly believe that sending daily emails to your leads is vital. Sending emails once a week or once a month is not enough. People will forget about you, if you don’t keep in touch often enough. When you communicate daily, try to provide helpful tips, thoughts, quotes, or information your prospect will enjoy. At the end of each email, provide a link to a page on your website in the P.S. line.

Tip # 4: Send 10 Educational Messages for Every Sales Message

As a rule of thumb, I try to send 10 educational emails for every sales message. That way, my leads don’t unsubscribe or think I am spamming them. If you only send sales messages, you will get lots of unsubcribes. I’ve found that the best way to sell is to educate your prospect about what you have to offer. This is known as attraction marketing.

Tip # 5: Use Email Marketing to Create More Website Traffic and Sales 

All emails should provide a link back to your website. This will help generate more sales and more website traffic. For instance, I get 10,000 to 30,000 visitors to my website each month from my emails. This creates lots of repeat sales and revenue.
