FOLLOW THE LEADER
How well you play follow the leader will determine how far you go in school or at work. In both scenarios the leader tells you when to show up, gives you work to do, and sets deadlines and acceptable standards of performance. If you follow the leader, you are rewarded.
How about in your network marketing business? Are you following your leader? That is a tricky question because more than likely the person who sponsored you into the business knows very little or nothing about growing a network marketing business. I know I didn’t know what I was doing when I started. And the person who sponsored me quit and I was left out in the cold trying to figure this out. The other side of the coin is the sponsor who has some success yet has no time to “teach” you all of their secrets. What were my options? “Oh well, I might as well go back to my job. This whole network marketing thing is hopeless.” Not a chance!!!
I’m too stubborn. Yes, I am too stubborn to quit. Once left on my own I came up with a brilliant idea. I’ll get to know the leaders or up-line of my company. I’ll attend every meeting to show total commitment and dedication. I thought that someone would notice, take me under their wing and teach me the right way to build my business just like they were. To my surprise I was told the same old thing, “Just bring more guests to the meeting.”
A good friend of mine joined a network marketing company. He too struggled like many marketers. He felt like quitting too. What was the secret to his success? He read every book he could get his hands on about network marketing. He found himself a mentor. You guessed it, he built his business the old fashion way, he educated himself. He took the time to learn all about this great profession.
Success leaves clues.
It was a no brainer for me. I went back to the basics. I too immersed myself into any and everything I could find from reputable, successful network marketers and philosophers. You guessed it; I went on a self-development crusade. As the old saying goes, “Ask and it shall be given to you, seek and you shall find, knock and it shall be open unto you”. Shortly after this mindset shift, my mentor appeared. I learned how to play the simple yet powerful game of follow the leader.
