20 Ways to Get More MLM Leads
Today, I want to do a quick brainstorm and share 20 free or low cost ways to get more leads for your MLM Business. None of these things are rocket science, but they are often overlooked.
There's no need to implement every idea you see on this list. Just pick 2-3 that resonate with you and focus on those. They are listed in no particular order.
# 1: Wear a Button
You can have a "Work from Home, Ask Me How!" button made and wear it when you are out and about living life. If you see someone looking at it, strike up a friendly conversation with them and hand them a drop card. You can purchase buttons on eBay or at VistaPrint.
# 2: Car Magnet
For about $20 to $50, a one time expense, you can have a car magnet or car sticker made up that you put on the window or door on your vehicle. This advertisement works for you 24/7. The key is to stay generic and not say the name of your company on it.
# 3: Drop Cards
I prefer drop cards over business cards. A drop card is similar to a business card, but it has a marketing message on it that is generic. It does not say the name of your company. It has a catchy headline, a few bullet points and a call to action. The $100 bill drop card is one of the most popular ones people use.
# 4: Collect Business Cards
Whenever you are out and about living life, collect business cards. When you meet someone, ask them for their business card. When you are at the library, gas station, gym, post office or any business with a bulletin board, take a few business cards. You can email these people one time, call them or mail them a postcard or handwritten note in the mail.
# 5: Referrals
Referrals are always the BEST source of leads. Ask everyone you talk with for referrals. Be specific and ask them questions such as:
- Who is the sharpest person you know?
- Who do you know that has a side hustle driving for Uber or Lfyt?
- Who do you know that takes CBD (or whatever product you sell)?
Get the person's name and contact information and get in touch with them.
# 6: Clothing
Clothing is a great way to get more MLM leads. Do not get clothing that has your company name on it. Instead, keep it generic.
Have a catch phrase that says something like: "Work from Home, Ask Me How." Whenever you see people staring at your clothing, strike up a friendly conversation with them and hand them a drop card.
# 7: Attend Local Events
I am a big fan of attending local events, such as church yard sales, bazaars, craft fairs, exhibits, etc. You do not need to set up as a vendor. Instead, go and network with the vendors. Strike up a friendly conversation and get their business card and then follow up with them at a later time.
# 8: Community/HOA/Church Newsletter
Reach out to your HOA, church or local civic organization and see if they offer a monthly newsletter. Ask if you can write an educational article and include your link. If that is not an option, ask if they offer advertising. This is normally a very inexpensive way to advertise.
# 9: Weekly Publications
Check out the Thrift Nickel, Penny Saver and similar weekly publications and consider doing a classified ad. In many cases, this is only $10-$15 for an ad.
# 10: Buy Leads
Buying leads is a very inexpensive way to get leads. I've bought expensive leads and cheap leads and one is not better than the other, so I suggest cheap leads. You can text these folks one time, call them one time or email them one time to see if they might be interested in your offer.
# 11: Facebook
If you aren't using Facebook, you are really missing out. There are billions of people on Facebook. You could start a group, join other groups, do a Facebook live, add new friends daily, etc. The sky is the limit with Facebook.
# 12: LinkedIn
This is one of my favorite places to get free leads. While Facebook is more "social oriented" people are on LinkedIn to grow their network and make more money. You can write articles, start a group, share interesting photos and videos, etc. The key to success is to provide value, not be a spammer, and make sure you have a stellar profile.
# 13: YouTube
YouTube is the second largest search engine, right behind Google. You can post quality videos on YouTube that are entertaining and educational. At the end of each video you can include a call to action asking people to visit your link.
# 14: Online Forums
Find a few popular forums online and become a contributing partner. Pick a topic that interests you. In your signature line, you can normally include a link to a website of your choice. Some of the people who read your articles and comments will check out your link.
# 15: Blog Comments
Similar to online forums, blog comments are a great way to get free leads. Find a few popular blogs and become a regular commentor. Just make sure your comments are high quality and add value to the post. You can include your link with each comment.
# 16: Email Signature
Create a catchy email signature. Do not say your company name. Keep it generic and have your link in the P.S. line.
# 17: Articles/Blogging/Guest Posting
If you enjoy writing like I do, this is one of the best ways to get free leads. You could start your own blog or submit articles to article directories.
# 18: Flea Markets
Attend flea markets in your local area and network with the other vendors. There's no need to set up a booth of your own. Hand each vendor a drop card. Strike up some friendly conversations and have a fun day outdoors at the same time. Plus, you never know who you will meet.
# 19: Safelists
Safelists are an online website you can use to email other members with your offers. I use several safelists myself, and really like them. Herculist is my favorite, but I also like Top Surfer and List Joe.
# 20: Reverse Marketing
This is quite perhaps my favorite lead generation strategy. Whenever someone emails, calls or texts me with an offer, I respond with a reply inviting them to take a look at what I have to offer.
