After many years climbing the ladder in a succession of executive-level jobs I found myself in the ideal one. Great salary, abundant benefits and really good people to work with was just a start. Then, suddenly it all ended. Just like that. I won’t bore you with why--the fact is we all know good things come to an end, and not necessarily on our terms.

After months of feeling sorry for myself, I decided to create my own future. I knew at my age the 9 to 5 was over so I searched online. I wasn’t quite sure what I was looking for but I knew I wanted to somehow be in business for myself. As unrealistic as it seemed, I also wanted something with the freedom and flexibility I didn’t have in the past.

I looked at many online opportunities. Surprisingly most were good except some required enormous effort to make up for what I had lost.
