Is Work from Home really possible? Time and People

The vast majority,if not all MLM opportunities have the motto WORK FROM HOME somewhere in their caption or presentation. It is a great tool no doubt, but it also has some traps attached if I'm using the correct word. Going to debunk 2 obvious ones shortly. Don't get me wrong, I'm in for it, but these are things nobody discusses out in the open. You just decided to take the step either part-time or full-time.What next? The real question is what is there before the decision? So now I'm discussing two key elements; time and people.

First of all, people that are captured by the magic of working from home are people that are not doing it. Generally it is the people that are working 9-5 or some other form of traditional job deion. So, the idea that you don't need to go somewhere to work outside your house strikes them at large feeling they need just that freedom of choice.

Then, others fall for the 'no boss' over your head thing. When you are at home, it is a friendly environment, nobody to frustrate you, a king in his castle. A theme quite often marked in Bold in various ppt presentations.

So in the first case working from home as you are told, is an opportunity to have the freedom to choose your own hours of work, get things done whenever you are motivated and be free to be creative. Think of it outside a hotel presentation room. Do you even know how difficult it is to be motivated for work in your own house when nobody is there to press you into action? You don't need someone to press you but before you step into a WFH opportunity you must be sure that you at least know yourself and your work ethic. If you have all the time in the world to sit around, would you be working towards your financial and personal development future? That is the real question you need to answer. If you know how to do it it is ok. If not, you will need mentoring to help you get started. These things can be solved by putting some small habits and then you will be fine. But don't be fooled that 1-2 hours a day will do it. Often you will have to work more than 9-5(depending on the job of course) just to get things rolling. After quite some time it is when you can work less time, if things work out. Also, watch out for the convenience trap. When at home you tend to do many things aside, wash this, clean up that, go to this room, laundry, and no work is done. Set clear time frames for work.

The second case. I will not even begin to explain what happens in the case of having kids in the house. I got 2 and whenever I try to read a book, I end up reading the same sentence for like 10 minutes. No work is going to be done unless everybody understands that you are working. Then you either go out to a coffee shop or a park to get things done and the bosses remain in the house. If you are married, think of your companion. If you are at home and all the time working, nagging will occur. So you have to plan carefully the work-family time balance. Ideally, singles are the ones that can be more productive, but everything is in the planning and motivation. Everybody in the house must treat and understand that when you work, you work. If not, that is going to be frustrating.

Those are two key elements to consider and solve before entering a WFH opportunity. If those are not addressed, there will not only be job oriented problems, but more important, personal issues that are harder to be solved.
