The Initiatives of Canada Direct Sellers Association

Canada Direct Sellers Association started in 1954 strives to maintain ethical standards and good conduct practices among its members for positively impacting the direct selling industry in Canada. It connects 1.2 billion Canadians to entrepreneurial opportunities and serves as an embodiment of trust for Individual Sales Consultants (ISCs) and consumers. In addition, DSA Canada takes effort at educating the general public about direct selling and addresses the issues faced by consumers and the industry in general.

DSA Canada is more than just an association of direct selling companies. It has a proven track record of positively impacting the lives of Canadian citizens through various initiatives. Every year it awards $16000 worth of scholarships to post-secondary students related to the direct selling industry. Its ‘Shop Direct, Shop Local’ campaign to support small and budding local businesses has found a great impact both online and offline. In spite of a year in turbulence, DSA has made sparkling efforts to restore the industry through various webinars, seminars, training sessions, and givebacks for the community.

In the pandemic setting, care was given and safety measures were taken to safeguard the direct selling community. All events of DSA Canada went virtual this year. Industry Awards 2020 in various categories were announced in its virtual summit, Pivot 2020. The award categories itself is a clear proof of the warmth of the organization towards the industry and the community.

IVAN P. PHELAN AWARD

Awarded to an individual who has made exceptional contributions to the direct selling industry of Canada. In 2020 Susan Timmermeister, Director, Strategy and Business Services, Mary Kay won the recognition.

MARK OF DISTINCTION AWARD

An Individual Sales Consultant (ISC) is recognized for his selfless activities in the community which has made a positive influence on the lives of others. Garry Coles and the late Kimberly Coles, Independent Business Owners, Amway Canada were honored under this category.

COMMUNITY SPIRIT AWARD

This category rewards Independent Sales Consultant (ISC) for their individual efforts and benevolence that have positively impacted the lives of others. Jennifer Dekezel, Canadian Associate Market Mentor at MONAT Global Canada won the recognition.

INDUSTRY INNOVATION AWARD

Implementation of unique programs particular to the Canadian direct selling industry is recognized under this category. Mary Kay, Skin Analyzer App was noted for its innovation and honored with the award.

MAKING A DIFFERENCE AWARD

Humanitarian efforts to the community that brings about an intense change in the lives of Canadians is honored under this category. Mannatech was recognized for its Nourishing Hope campaign.

PARTNERSHIP IN PROGRESS AWARD

The efforts of supplier member companies that deliver quality products or services to an active DSA member company and the efforts of which have made a positive contribution to the business of the active member company is recognized under this category. Millar Kreklewetz was bestowed with this service recognition award for their support to the industry.

 All its events went virtual this year. Awards were announced in its virtual summit, Pivot 2020.

The pandemic did not harness the commitments of the Canada Direct Sellers Association. DSA Canada promises to develop more educational resources and research investments to promote the Canadian direct selling industry in 2021.
