What’s The Number 1 Reason People Fail At Network Marketing?

Most of us will agree that bottom line the number one reason...in fact, the ONLY reason people fail at anything, is because they give up. So, since there’s always more to everything, what are the main reasons people give up on network marketing? The answer to that brings up a variety of valid responses.

Face it, some people are just quitters. After all, it’s easy to become a quitter. You don’t have to blame yourself, you can blame anything or anyone else. On the other hand, while never giving up may sound good, without the proper training, skills, and tools you can end up like the mouse on the treadmill, chasing the cheese that is always out of reach.

Never giving up should include the commitment to seek out the additional training, and resources, and to develop the skills you’ll need to reach your goals. But the real twister is that a lot of people feel like reaching out for help in itself is a sign of weakness, of giving up.

The 3 Levels of Sales Skills

Another big reason network marketers fail is due to their ability as salespeople.

Most new recruits come into an MLM with little to no sales experience. They are likely to be the ones who read robotically from a script. People like these are referred to as “Order Takers”.

Then there are those who focus on learning all about the facts and figures / the features and benefits of the product. They are called “The Presenters” because they like to talk so much that they often talk themselves out of a sale.

The most profitable group, with the longest retention rate, is made up of those who have gained the experience and training to develop the skills to understand the wants and desires, the fears and challenges, the problems and obstacles their prospects have. They are called the “Hard-core Closers”. They build a rapport with the prospect, so he or she can know, like, and trust them.

A large part of those who fail at network marketing are either unwilling or unable to put in the time and effort required to develop these skills. On the other hand, many network marketing programs don’t provide the level of training, tools, or resources needed to succeed in today’s marketplace.

Brand, Market & Grow Your Business Online

To Promote The Product Or Promote Yourself?

Sure, the products, features, and benefits are important, but bottom line, people buy from people they know, like and trust. Those who succeed in network marketing lead with the value they provide. They brand themselves as the solution provider.

Wearing Too Many Hats

Many networkers are solopreneurs, like me. When you’re responsible for doing it all, from marketing and promotions, generating content ideas, traffic generation, planning and whatever else comes at you, it can be easy to become overwhelmed, distracted, discouraged and offtrack.

Successful marketers overcome this by creating a plan of action and working that plan every day. Not only do they follow their plan religiously, but they also develop their mindset by listening to and reading inspiring books and audios, and associating with positive people who aspire to live an abundant life full of prosperity and purpose.

Diligent, Persistent, And Consistent

Many of those who fail lack an organized approach to their marketing, or they're not fully committed to the investment of time and money. Their passion and excitement for the product and concern for being of service to others is another key factor in whether their business takes off like a rocket, or hits rock bottom.

Of all the reasons people fail at network marketing, the most unsettling to me is the poor quality of relationship building and their follow-up process. It can take a while for the word to spread and your marketing to work. It just takes time and follow-up and then the sales will come. Many marketers get discouraged because of slow sales and give up to early.

Having all else in place, the strong commitment - the right mindset - the effective training – the latest marketing tools and resources – the clear plan of action, and by getting the right prospects to the offers you make, the only other thing you need is to practice diligence, persistence, and consistency.
