Could your business change the world?
So, network marketing is a good thing right? Hey, some of you experiencing success would even call it great, amazing, fantastic, the best thing since sliced bread, and so on...
The big question I'd like to ask is this - is your fantastic business really as great as it could be?
Certainly a bold question, and I've no doubt a lot of you think I'm probably insane - after all, you've built your business to give you freedom, take control of your income, get your time back, and live the life you want to lead - how it possibly be any better?
Well, I've got an idea - a tiny seed at the moment, but certainly one that I think could grow into a truly world changing business model - and it works through the collaboration, expertise, effort, and commitment you've put into growing your business already, with just a slight tweak...
So how do you take what you're already doing, and turn it into a serious game changer? Simple, stop doing it for yourself. Let me say that again - stop doing it for yourself. Again, it sounds insane right? Almost as mad as saying that you can work from anywhere in the world, building a business that generates a residual income right? And who on earth does that?!?
So, enough with the bizarre foreplay on this one - let's get down to the brass tacks. Almost every direct selling opportunity out there offers incentives for building a sales team (from here on, I'm going to call it a downline for ease), and you can earn money by having others do the selling for you. Sure, there's commission eligibility criteria to meet, and you'll have to do a bit of work yourself, although that's nothing new - the net effort is the same, the bigger your downline, the more money you make - and this effect usually drops down many levels.
Can this be exploited to change the world as a whole, rather than just yours? Is it possible to build a business with the ethic of changing the world at it's core? Undoubtedly!
Realistically speaking, for most that deal with tangible products, the aim is to get to a point that buying products for your personal use meets your commission eligibility criteria - that way, if you don't have the hottest month selling, your downline will still generate you enough to live on (or retire on if you've got a big enough team). That being the case, isn't a strong team the biggest aim?
If that is the case (and I doubt I'm wrong here), then perhaps it's a case of looking at where you fit into the overall scheme of things - after all, you were referred in by a member, who is gaining a commission from your sales, your team, and so on. So who's above you? Is it a friend, a chance encounter from somewhere? Perhaps you decided to join via a website, and don't know your referrer.
What if your referrer (or upline) was an entity setup to generate funds for a charity, or a religious group, or a school or hospital in your area? Well, that's the way I believe network marketing should be looking to go, and we have the technology and systems in place to do this and change the world for all of us, not just ourselves and our upline.
So here's what we propose - why not establish entities in your downlines that exist specifically to support your favourite charities? There's no impact to your commissions, you get to market your products or services in the same way, with the added benefit of supporting a cause that will change the world in ways we can't alone.
