6 biggest car breakdowns

Imagine for a moment: You are cruising down the road in your car, music is playing, you are happy, but all of the sudden you have to pull off the road in unfamiliar territory because your car just stopped running. You’ve just become a statistic: In any given year, 30 million calls for help come from motorists stuck along a roadway somewhere.

As a woman, that helpless feeling of being stranded on the side of the road is the worst feeling. I have known that feeling all too many times in my lifetime.

1. Accidents

If you have been in an accident before you know, having an accident is awful enough. Then to have to pay for the tow truck to come and take your vehicle where it needs to go is just another headache.

2. Battery Trouble

In general, batteries should last for three to five years. We all are busy in our day to day lives that we just don’t take time out to remember when we purchased our battery the last time. It always seems to be at the worst possible time that it fails to start the car too (winter, raining, etc.) At lease in my experience.

3. Lockouts

The ideal thing to do is have a set of keys at home and with someone that you trust. However, what if you were on a road trip and you locked your keys in the vehicle by mistake. It will cost you $60.00 to $300.00 dollars (cost of key and cost of technician) to get a new key made and get your vehicle unlocked.

4. Engine/Transmission/Brake Trouble

The last thing you want is your vehicle to break down. However, it happens every day and always at the worst times. For example, on your way to work or to a special occasion. A tow truck will run you anywhere from $80.00 to $200.00 and then will only go 20 to 30 miles.

5. Flat Tires

If you own a car, at some point in your life you will have to deal with a flat tire. Probably multiple flat tires. I have been driving over 20 years and have had multiple flat tires. My latest one was just a few months ago, I stopped for gas on my way to an event. I left the gas station and thought I heard something wrong with my left, back tire. I pulled over checked the tire and it seemed to be fine. I got back on my way and suddenly my tire pressure started to go down. I had run something over at the gas station causing my tire to go flat. Of course, I am 120 miles from home and no one around to help me. This was the first time ever (besides when I was in drivers Ed during high school) that I changed my own flat tire. It was not pleasant.

6. Running Out of Gas

Ok, I know I am not the only one, but I push the limit when it comes to the gas gauge. I run out of gas at least once a year. I know, I know! Stupid, when there is literally a gas station on every corner. But it happens to even those who make sure there is a half a tank of gas at all times. If your gas gauge happens to stop working, or you are in a rush, on the phone when you get in your vehicle and don’t look at your gas gauge because you weren’t thinking you were low. (believe me it happens)

Have a Backup Plan

In conclusion, having a plan of action is the best way to feel at ease. I now have peace of mind knowing that I am protected. MCA has been useful so many times since I have had it.
