Could network marketing be evolving?

Years ago when I was young and naive I was offered to get in on a ground floor opportunity and passed on it because my peers, who weren't so young and naive and "knew better" told me it was a scam and don't go near it. I had been offered to help start a business making and selling jewel boxes for CD's. My friends were asking "what are CD's?. When I told them, it must have been like back in the old days when everybody had a horse and maybe a buggy and when they saw their first horseless carriage would say, "who would ever want one of those?" Besides everybody listened to recordings on cassette tapes and who would make a transition to compact disk? That is what we've always done.

Not long after that I was presented with an opportunity to get in with a group that was going to be buying an acre here and an acre there because they, then, were going to be leasing them to phone companies for where they would place what they were calling "cell phone towers". Again, my peers were saying they had never heard of anything like cell phones and besides who would want to carry a pocket phone anyways.

Network marketing has been around for decades and thousands, if not hundreds of thousands, of people have been able to make the kind of money most people only dream of. What if network marketing were about to evolve like going from the horse to the auto? How about evolve from cassette to CD? Evolve from land line phones to cell phones?
