From Over Worked, Stressed and Tired to Achieving Financial and Time Freedom!
I am the first college graduate in my family and I have always set high career goals. I was a Supply Chain Manager by the time I was 25 and a Supply Chain Director before age 30. After having two children, I realized my six figure income was no longer providing the lifestyle I had envisioned. I found myself tied to my job. I was constantly working or thinking about work, which meant valuable time away from my 2 young daughters. I was longing for a way out. My daughters were 2 and 4 years old at the time and my husband was busy climbing the corporate ladder, to say we were stressed was an understatement. I was continually looking at various business models from Traditional Businesses, to Franchises, to Direct Sales, I knew there had to be something that would offer me control over my own schedule yet earn the six figure income I had become accustomed to.
Finally I came across a business model that did not require an upfront investment! I figured with no investment and a high monthly re-order rate there was little to no risk. We have helped countless moms have success working from home. Of course I’ve had many lessons learned along the way from improving my time management skills, learning to mentor others long distance, balancing family/ work time and so many other nuances that come along with running a successful business from home. I found my life had to get completely out of balance - juggling a full time career, two young children and starting a business for about a year before I was able to exceed my income expectations and achieve the balance I was looking for. It required a detailed strategy plan, as my husband likes to say – “Hope is not a strategy”. I feel a lot of people enter entrepreneurship “hoping” for success versus developing a strategy to achieve the success and income they truly desire.
When I started my business over 5 years ago, I had no idea that it would grow to what it is today, allowing me to walk away from a corporate career I spent 15 years building! When I tell people I work from home and have replaced a corporate salary within a year, I usually get one of two responses – “I don’t know how you get anything done,” or “I wish could do that.”
I feel many of my friends who are also moms like me, think the flexibility of working from home sounds amazing, but they aren’t sure they have what it takes to be productive. I’ll admit that you can become easily distracted, but I love to share my lessons learned and mentor others to have the same success!
