Generating leads is not the only solution to signing up prospects you've got to know your numbers. Yes you have to know how many leads you need to generate in order to sign up one person.
Making you understand better; you have to know the number of persons you need to talk to before you can sign up one customer or business partner.
Here is the reason you have to know your numbers.
Network marketing business can be an emotional rollercoaster if you don't manage your expectations. When you have been able to know your numbers, you will literary know what to expect. When you can manage your expectations, you will not be disappointed in the business.
Like it's always said numbers don't lie. If you work the numbers, you will certainly have your result.
One reason why most people are frustrated in building their business is because they have not been able to study and know their numbers. They do it anyhow and when they see anyhow result they complain.
Most people will generate leads through advertisement thinking that it's all about that. Most times considering their networking skills and closing ability, they should recruit 1 in every 20 leads they generate but in most cases they end up generating 17 leads which may result to no sign up and they become frustrated and think the advert didn't work.
It's not only about lead generation, you have to know your numbers so that you manage your expectations.

Knowing your numbers will enable you to manage your expectations therefore reducing disappointments.
REASONS YOU NEED TO KNOW YOUR NUMBERS #2) TO MANAGE YOUR ENERGY : Energy is everything in business and in life as a whole. If you can't manage your energy, you won't produce more.
Your energy determines your production rate in anything you do. Knowing your number will prevent that bad feeling when you see your results. It will prevent your energy being drained because you already knew what your results will look like. Once this happens you can always do your business without going down emotionally.

You may not know how to reach where you are going until you know where you are. This implies that when you are new to network marketing industry, you need to talk to more people since you don't have much skills.
As long as the above statement is valid, we equally need to fist of all know our numbers before taking it up.
Here is what I mean
If for example you recruit 1 person in every 20 leads or people you talk to.
This therefore means that if you want to recruit 2 you simply need to generate 40 leads or talk to 40 people.
And this makes a lot of sense because you can readily set your target and hit it.
